The Start

Hard Bean Coffee & BookSellers opened on June 15th, 2002 and began offering the visitors and residents of Annapolis the finest coffee, pastries, desserts, and sandwiches along with over 10,000 hand-picked discount and bargain books. Our menu has broadened over the years, along with our number of locations, but the “downtown” store located on Market Space near the historic City Dock will always be the home of Hard Bean in Annapolis.

Today

Hard Bean Coffee & BookSellers exists first and foremost to make our customer’s day better. Every aspect of our business - from the product to our staff - has the final goal of you leaving our store in a better mood than you entered. Over the years our equipment has been upgraded, our product has been refined, and the atmosphere has elevated. We are constantly listening to customer feedback and adapting to the needs and demands of the Annapolis cafe market. The Future

No one knows for sure what the future holds. In an era of an unsure economy and lower tourist counts, Hard Bean has the advantage over larger corporate competitors. We are more maneuverable and have the ability to change and adapt to these conditions better than our big brothers.
